Jorge Won, OD
Welcome to Jackson Heights Vision Associates. Who would think we would be the longest optometrist-owned private practice in this Queens neighborhood when we started it in 1989.
I was born and raised in Peru, and upon finishing in Maryknoll High School, was offered a full academic scholarship by the Institute of International Education. My undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree. I completed my doctoral training at SUNY College of Optometry, including externship programs at Montefiori Medical Center (Bronx), VA Medical Center (St. Albans, Queens) and Woodhull Medical Center (Brooklyn). As a primary care optometrist, my clinical expertise is the diagnosis, treatment and management of eye diseases and visual disorders. We offer several options in vision correction including glasses, contact lenses and laser vision consultation. |
I am active in the American Optometric Association, and also the founding President of VOSH - New York (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), www.vosh-ny.org. We have led over 20 joint optometric, surgical and dental humanitarian clinics throughout the world since 2002.
Thank-you for considering us for your eye care and optical needs and we look forward to the opportunity to care you and your family. It is a continuing honor being at your service all these decades in Jackson Heights.
Elizabeth Perauna, Office Manager
My name is Elizabeth. I am the office manager at Jackson Heights Vision Associates.
I am Peruvian/Dominican. I have been working with Dr. Won for the past 23 years. I enjoy my job, which is why I have been here for so many years. I always greet our patients with a smile. Its important to treat them with courtesy and respect. This shows our patients how different we are from other practices. |
Carmen Estevez, Medical Billing
"I am Peruvian and have lived in New York for around 16 years. I work here nearly 13 years. I love my job because I get an opportunity of meeting people from various countries and diverse cultures ... I have done many new friends that I conserve through the years!.
I consider myself a simple person and I feel happy to enjoy the simple things of the life, every little detail is important for me: give a smile, greeting with courtesy, assign a seat, say thank you, and of course: to enjoy with my family!!. Another one of my greatest loves: My pets, I love seeing these little tails restless, and their little faces of playfulness when they see me coming home after an arduous day of work!". |
